ABD was started way back in the 1880s by Grace Ann Hunting. Her daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughters have all followed the ABD Way and we hope her great-great-great granddaughters will too, as long as they all "Just keep an open mind!"
Flower: The Blue Rose because it's artificial yet still so pretty.
Mascot: Lions because of their strength and prowess.
Colors: Colonial Blue & Buttercup to symbolize friendship and unity, and because blue is flattering on everyone!
Motto: "Just keep an open mind!"
Jewel: Pearls, especially if they are family heirlooms!
ABD does not discriminate against anyone who wants to rush, especially if they come from a good family and have good hair. Even girls who are not bubbly or who have no fashion sense are welcome to rush ABD, as long as they are willing to change.
“We pride ourselves on our ability to embrace all shapes, sizes, and social statuses at ABD. We also firmly and deeply believe in the rules set forth by our founding sisters, but we also really love breaking those rules from time to time.” Marnie, ABD President
“My favorite night at ABD is slide show night. It's when the actives have a beauty night and we look at photos of the rushees, and really judge the hell out of them. But in a very politically correct way.” Tatum, ABD Vice President
While ABD does expect a girl to dress her best during rush, she doesn't have to be in the latest fashion. We know many girls whose parents live in apartments or in one-story houses may not be able to buy the best clothes. As long as her clothes are not older than one season, we will embrace her with open arms!
**note that ABD is not affiliated with the Panhellenic Council and as of filming no Greek chapter called ABD exists. ABD is a fictional sorority.
